How To Increase Traffic To Your Hubpages!

When I joined the HubPages long back, I didn't have any clue to how to bring people to read my articles. Slowly I learned how to do that by emailing friends and posting links in digg, reddit, and del.ico.us which was readily available at Hubpages then. But even then the traffic was so slow! I had only about a few hundred visitors in the first 5 weeks or so.

You can say that I was more than disappointed with that! Then I noticed a pattern emerging from the statistics for Hubs. Most of the traffic were coming from various google domains! Although there was a slight increase in traffic, still it wasn't much.

It was then I discovered the potential of Social Bookmarking. After some research I've found hundreds of sites offering bookmarking services for free! I decided to test a few sites. And my traffic improved considerably. I started bookmarking with more and more sites. Now I am in my 4th year at The Hubpages. My statistics shows more than 10,000,000 hits. I am really happy now, that my strategy regarding bringing visitors to The Hubpages is paying off, as my adsense account has also been doing well. Now I have crossed the 10 million page views mark for all my published hubs. The lion's share of the visitors are from search engines. In fact I published one hub thanking all my fellow hubbers for making it possible.

Increase traffic to your pages with better keyword strategy, link building and the right amount of promotion. Ideally, you should be aiming for search engine traffic.

Social Bookmarking

You can multiply your traffic by bookmarking your blog to Social Bookmarking sites. Social Bookmarking websites are basically sites that categorize and store bookmark links. Millions of visitors flood these Social Bookmarking sites to search for information. So the idea of bookmarking is to post links back to your web page from these Social Bookmarking websites. You will specify some keywords or tags which categorize your bookmark.

A Word Of Caution!

Social Bookmarking is time consuming because you have to manually bookmark your sites. There are many softwares out there that will bookmark your pages automatically. They sound great but they are way overpriced. Some of these tools have ridiculous monthly fees. Most of them are spamming tools developed to destroy the Social Bookmarking sites. These spamming tools randomly generate account name and passwords at these Social Bookmarking sites and post hundreds of links at a single go.

So, even if its a little laborious and takes longer I will suggest that you do the bookmarking the manual way, its more rewarding. Moreover, if you go for Social Bookmarking Automation Softwares you run the risk of getting blacklisted.

Apart from these, I also post links in relevant forums and mail regularely to my friends who may be interested in reading the articles. Also tag your posts well!

Though I have been on hubpages for 9 months now, I really started writing about 3 and 1/2 months back. I find that getting traffic from outside is slow. I share with the sites whiich hubpages offers plus some blogs and pages on facebook too.

You have written a wonderful hub listing many bookmarking sites. I will definitely be trying to post links there though it will be time consuming.
