Insectophobia And Other Stories

All Insects are ....

It all began in the forums. Sometimes it just feels like the place is infested with these creepy insects. And there are many varieties of them. They come in all sizes, colors and shapes. The jumpers, the crawlers, the sticks, the bugs, the spammers, to name a few. According to some scientists there are more than 7 million of them all over the globe, and its only natural that some of them try to invade our forums too. Lately it was some China shoe salesmen. Oh, I hate them. Do you have a fear of bugs or insects? Technically the fear of insects is called Entomophobia or Insectophobia, if I am right. What is the treatment for these phobias or how to treat the fear of insects? I guess humor is a good medicine!

Insects, insects everywhere

Amazing Bugs You Probably Didn't Know Exist!

Dottie is absolutely terrified of these monster crickets, especially when they appear in her bathrooms and pantry. Actually I should thank her for helping me to jump over the writer's block since she gave me the idea for this hub. Or should I thank that monster cricket?!.

While Mark excels in the humor department some takes his comments very seriously when he was only trying to help and be a little funny about it. Incidentally, he loves the taste of monster crickets dipped in dark chocolate. Very crunchy!. And he usually traps them with a glass before dipping them in chocolate. But it was the hubby and not any hubber who came to the rescue of Dottie this time. He kicked the cricket out and what else are hubbies for. Hubbies can do what hubbers can't.

Shadesbreath feels that America needs an enema, but will set his own house on fire if he can't kill a cricket. Misha has plenty of crickets at home and his kids play with them because dad is too busy hubbing. There will sure be a war if Mark visits Misha's home.

Ever heard of 'jukeems'?. Thats what they call the biggest, the scariest, and the hairiest cockroaches in Israel. Karen and her husband scream and run to their bedrooms when jukeems are in sight. I am not sure whether Mark likes to eat jukeems dipped in maple syrup too. While wanna be bee farmer In-Correct may be correct about learning to live with insects, the thought of wasps landing in his eye make me cringe.

Crickets are our friends and I agree with Rochelle. While she urges you to embrace your fears and let your conscience be your guide, marisue continues to hate those things. Bob is another great hubber who likes cooking and first he threaten the crickets before roasting them. He always keeps chocolate sauce at hand just in case if any unsuspecting cricket who has no idea of his taste buds doesn't listen to him.

Our ailurophile but arachnophobic Maddie has Vivi to deal with crickets. All she has to do is say "Vivi, bug!" and blow at the crickets. The cat will do the rest. No wonder there was feline worship in ancient Egypt. The ever resourceful Patty likes daddy-longlegs but not scorpions.

Sir Dent has teamed up with Mighty Hunter to exterminate these bugs. And I always thought he was a kind man!. Perhaps he also hates bugs. dineane, hates them all no matter what, but one of her NC favorite is the wolf spider. Zsuzsy advises to bring home the lizards to contain the bugs menace.

Marian who grew up in Hawaii has seen something I can only imagine. It seems that they use cockroaches to transport TV and beer over there. The bohemian compu-smart is another arachnophobic who, like Maddie has got a well trained kitty for his defences that respond to the command 'parasites'.

The part Cajun Jerilee narrated a funny story of a cricket which turned out to be an old travel alarm clock in the end. It was hilarious. But it is pretty scary in the case of Barga. All sorts of creatures keep creeping into her bedroom!. The poor thing has to sleeps on the couch most of the time. Reminds me of an old horror movie I have seen long ago.

While Crystal feeds her dragon with thousands of crickets every two weeks, and is going nuts slowly in the process having to listen to their chirping, the self proclaimed insectophobic Shirley loves to listen to crickets. Its music for her. Bill is a brave man indeed. Crickets are like pussycats to him, after witnessing a millipede being dug out from his dad's ears years ago. Louise knows how to deal with such situations. First you syringe water into the ears, if that doesn't work use oil, if that doesn't work call an ambulance, if that doesn't work call Louise.

The latecomer LaVelle has her own devices. Like Shadesbreath she also likes to burn houses down, but with mice inside, while Kate is wondering why crickets jump towards her. And all these timeSiva was choking on his chips reading the insect stories. Someone please go and help him.

I'm not a huge bug fan myself. My porch is infested with flies. Flies, flies, everywhere! And I do love my flyswatter. And those flies just don't understand that I'm'a gonna kill 'em with mah trustly flyswatter. :-P

Cute hub, though. Loved the little stories. :-D
